Highlights
Some of the features to be aware of are as follows:
Partial Authorized Payment workflow change – this release includes improvements to the series of informational messages that the Toast POS app displays when a payment is only partially authorized, leaving a remaining balance due before the transaction is complete. These messages will make it more obvious to the employee that additional payment is still required, which should minimize the possibility that a guest leaves without paying their full total due.
Suggested Tip calculation fix – the customer receipt suggested tip calculation has been fixed
Elo V1 performance enhancement – this release includes changes to the Toast POS app that can reduce the amount of time that menu loading takes. The effect of these changes is expected to be more noticeable during busy periods at locations using Elo V1 devices.
Other Notable Toast Items:
Restricted check lockdown. Closed checks will be locked down so that they cannot be re-opened and modified. Below are the main bullet points. This change will be rolled out next week.
All checks that are in the CLOSED state during your closeout hour (this will be at 4am) will enter the “restricted” state
Restricted checks cannot be pulled back onto the POS
CC payments on restricted checks can be refunded only from the Toast back end
Non-CC payments on restricted checks (cash, house accounts, Other payment types) cannot be voided or refunded, however, Pay Outs can be leveraged to issue cash refunds to customers if necessary
Restricted checks cannot be edited
EMV – If you would like to switch tablet swipes to the Toast EMV swipes, please contact Toast and place an order. Each EMV device is $175 and Toast is offering a 10% discount. This is not required. It’s a good idea to review your chargebacks to see if the cost of the devices will be a good investment for you as this is where the majority of cost lies. The devices are easy to install, simply unscrew the existing device and screw the new one on. Then, you will have to go into device settings and enable EMV on each device.
